Phyllis is a clinical nurse specialist who has been practicing as a therapist for over ten years. She has several degrees, culminating in her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nursing from Hampton University. Initially, she pursued work in inpatient clinical settings and nursing administration and management in psychiatric settings. She also began teaching at local institutions of higher education. After she obtained her doctorate, she worked at various positions including department chair of Nursing and Allied Health at Norfolk State University. In 2018 she and her family moved to Michigan, where she obtained a position as Assistant Dean of Health Professions at a local college.

During her work as a nurse in inpatient settings, she discovered her love and talent for practicing psychotherapy and working with clients. She decided to pursue this passion by working part time as a mental health therapist, while pursuing her academic career. Thus she brings a blend of practical experience and formal knowledge therapy and of the issues which her clients face.

Phyllis is a warm, welcoming, accepting therapist who places her relationship with her clients and their needs at the center of her practice. Phyllis practices in the Ann Arbor office. She specializes in working with couples, divorce issues, women’s issues, trauma, anxiety and depression.
